Adults wishing to further their education often find it difficult to balance work, family and school on top of the added expense of tuition. While some people are out of work and trying to attain the skills needed to secure a job, others are looking to learn a new trade and advance their career.

After seeing the challenges adult learners at Buckeye Career Center (BCC) in New Philadelphia face, a group of committed individuals made it their top priority to do something about it. They formed Friends of Adult Education in 2013 to make it possible for adults to affordably pursue education and training at BCC.

It is because of annual fundraisers, donations and wise investments that Friends of Adult Education can provide financial assistance to BCC’s adult learners. One of the organization’s wise investments is an endowed fund at Stark Community Foundation, which at the end of 2020, had provided nearly $20,000 in scholarship support since inception.
