Ashton were instrumental in the creation and development of many Carrollton non-profit organizations and activities as residents and business owners in the community since 1932. John devised a way in which he and Evelyn could continue to give back to Carrollton and the Carroll County community in the form of scholarships for deserving students, the creation of a museum, and grants for different types of programs and projects which would be of benefit to the community.
Peter and Patricia Ashton created their Donor Advised Fund following his retirement from a distinguished career as a Timken Company executive. Mr. Ashton died in 1999.
