Adrienne O'Neill Scholarship Fund

In honor of Dr. Adrienne O’Neill’s retirement, the Timken Foundation of Canton established a scholarship fund to recognize her years of exemplary service to the educational community in Stark County. As a testament to Adrienne’s commitment to lifelong learning, scholarships are awarded annually to financially needy students who are also first generation college students.

This multiple-donor scholarship fund was established by the Board of Directors of Stark Community Foundation as a permanent educational funding resource for students who reside in Stark County. A five-member selection committee comprised of community-minded volunteers distributed the first awards in the spring of 2010. Initial gifts to the fund include the assets of five (5) former SCF scholarship funds: The Robert W. Brannick Scholarship Fund, The Junior Order of United American Mechanics Scholarship Fund, The McKinley Class of 1980 Scholarship Fund, The Susan Clunk Robenstine Scholarship Fund and The James V. Stewart Jr. Scholarship Fund. Gifts of any size are welcome from individuals and groups to the P.I.E. Fund. Donors will be named a “Partner” at a contribution level specified by the Board.

Nancy L. Penny Memorial Scholarship Fund

Nancy L. Penny Memorial Scholarship Fund

Named in honor of Nancy L. Penny, her family created a scholarship fund as a living tribute to Nancy’s giving spirit, love for music and passion for education. A lifelong resident of Alliance and a 1974 graduate of Alliance High School, Nancy passed away in 2002. Scholarships are awarded annually from this fund to graduating seniors from Alliance High School and Marlington High School.

Steven Scott Quinn Culinary Scholarship Fund

Joe and Marlene Toot established this fund in loving memory of Marlene’s son, Steve, who passed away unexpectedly. A chef and entrepreneur, Steve and wife, Ellen, owned and operated Parkway Deli in Akron. The scholarship is a lasting tribute to the joy he experienced while working in the field of culinary arts.

Raff-Raisner Scholar Award Fund

August M. Rocco Scholarship Fund

  • EST. 1994

This scholarship fund was established in the 1961 will of August M. Rocco, a former Canton grocer. Assets were transferred in 1994 to Stark Community Foundation. A scholarship advisory committee selects scholarship recipients who must be graduates of Canton Central Catholic High School or St. Thomas Aquinas High School and attending the University of Notre Dame. Subfund supporting the Rocco Scholarship Fund: The Philip and Judith Lattavo Scholarship Fund.
