Lillian Grace Mahan Scholarship Fund

  • EST. 1991

Philanthropist Lillian Grace Mahan, who died in 1991, had been a teacher and librarian at the former Lehman High School in Canton. Her will provided for a charitable trust in the Foundation to provide income for “granting scholarships to graduate or undergraduate students of library science who are residents of Stark County.”

It is with great pleasure that the Manzer Camera Club in Canton, OH, announced its endowment of a permanent scholarship fund honoring Dr. Helen C. Manzer, Dr. Marie Keener, and Ms. June Wefler. These three women have dedicated their lives to the pursuit of excellence in photography and have spent many years teaching the craft to fellow photographic enthusiasts. Three equal and independent college scholarships are awarded for deserving high school seniors, current college undergrads, and current part-time adult college students pursuing careers in photography or visual arts.

Markley Family Scholarship Fund

Markley Family Scholarship Fund

This fund was established by donor Nancy Markley for the benefit of undergraduate students at Walsh University. Students eligible for the award must demonstrate academic potential and financial need and be pursuing undergraduate studies full-time.

Massillon Fraternal Order of Eagles Jimmy Kiefer Scholarship Fund

  • EST. 2014

Members of the Massillon Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 19 established this fund to honor the memory of Jimmy Kiefer, a long-time Eagle and staunch supporter of the Massillon Tiger Football Program. The scholarship is awarded to a person who is a graduating senior from Massillon Washington High School who played football for the Massillon Tigers and has been accepted for enrollment at an accredited two or four year college or university.

Bill McCarthy Boy Scouts Scholarship Fund

  • EST. 1997

Accepting a trust from Citizens National Bank, the Foundation created this fund in accordance with wishes stated in the will of Bill McCarthy, who passed away in 1979. Each year the fund provides scholastic aid for the first year of college for a Boy Scout from a troop in the Tuslaw District. The recipient must have attained at least the rank of a First Class Scout and rank among the highest ten boys in his high school graduating class.

Harry Mestel Memorial Accounting Scholarship Fund

  • EST. 2003

The Harry Mestel Memorial Accounting Scholarship Fund was established by family and friends of Harry Mestel to honor his memory and many years of community service to Canton and the surrounding area. The scholarship was established with the intention of helping students who are in pursuit of an accounting degree.

Sanders J. Mestel Legal Scholarship Fund

Sanders J. Mestel Legal Scholarship Fund

  • EST. 1985

Established as a memorial to Sanders J. Mestel by his parents Harry and Anne Mestel and other contributors, this fund provides for law school scholarships and an annual Trial Advocacy Award to a law student at the University of Akron College of Law. An Advisory Committee from the Stark County Bar Association recommends the scholarship recipients.
