Judge and Mrs. Robert D. Horowitz Legal Scholarship Fund

Patricia A. Horowitz and her daughters, Jennifer Saniuk and Erin Horowitz, established this Fund as a memorial to their beloved husband and father, Judge Robert D. Horowitz, who died in 2003. Jennifer and Erin renamed the Fund in loving memory of their dear mother, Patricia, who died in 2004. Judge and Mrs. Horowitz’s daughters maintain the fund to honor their parents and their parents’ commitment to public service and the community.

Virginia C. Jack and Ralph L. Jack Scholarship Fund

Virginia Jack, deceased in May 1999, had established a scholarship fund to be instituted at her death as a memorial to herself and her late husband Ralph. This fund benefits residents of Stark County who exhibit scholastic aptitude, demonstrate financial need and receive a recommendation from their teachers.

David A. Kaiser Memorial Scholarship Fund

David A. Kaiser Memorial Scholarship Fund

Donor Gerald S. Jacobs established this scholarship fund with an initial gift of $50,000 in honor of his friend and former classmate David A. Kaiser, longtime educator and Canton City School Superintendent from 1983 until his retirement in 1989. A selection committee will recommend recipients for this scholarship from seniors attending high school in the Canton City School District who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in academics, as well as having exhibited personal characteristics of integrity and leadership.

Louise Nader Khourey Memorial Scholarship Fund

Louise Nader Khourey Memorial Scholarship Fund

Louis Khourey, Christopher Khourey and Claudia Khourey-Bowers, PhD., children of Louise Nader Khourey, established this fund to honor the memory of their mother. Scholarships are to be awarded to graduates of Stark County high schools who are pursuing careers in modern language education and have been recommended by a Selection Committee.

Samuel Krugliak Legal Scholarship Fund

Samuel Krugliak Legal Scholarship Fund

Krugliak, Wilkins, Griffiths & Dougherty Co., LPA, established this fund to honor Samuel Krugliak, its founding member who officially retired from the firm in 2000. Mr. Krugliak was active in the Stark County community for many years and served as a member of the Board of Directors for many companies. This fund will grant money each spring to a student who has demonstrated a commitment to his or her community and plans to practice law in the region.

Margaret Lazar/Emma Lupher Scholarship Fund

Income from this fund is used for scholarships for students in nursing programs or graduate study in allied fields. The Alumni Association recommends recipients. Candidates must be residents of Stark County, or contiguous counties served by Aultman Hospital, or be studying at Aultman. A significant part of this fund is from an honorarium given in memory of Margaret Wood Lazar, R.N.

Rev. Cecil A. and Mrs. Edna M. (Doll) Lightbourn Scholarship Fund

Rev. Cecil A. and Mrs. Edna M. (Doll) Lightbourn Scholarship Fund

Donor Edna M. (Doll) Lightbourn established this fund to honor the memory of her late husband Rev. Cecil A. Lightbourn. Rev. Lightbourn was the former pastor of The Mt. Calvary Second Baptist Church in Canton. This fund will benefit high school seniors who are active members of Mt. Calvary Second Baptist Church and are pursuing a degree at a four-year college or university. Edna passed away in 2013.
