SCF Matching $500,000 in Donations

Date posted: November 14, 2012

Since 1963, Stark Community Foundation has been connecting the generosity of people with the charitable causes that are important to them. In honor of Stark Community Foundation’s 50th Anniversary, which will be celebrated in 2013, the Foundation is continuing this mission through the “give BIG Stark County” matching initiative-a first for the Community Foundation. These matching funds, coupled with donors’ generosity, will ultimately have a tremendous impact in our community.

“For 50 years the Foundation has been a trusted partner in helping our donors support the charitable organizations that are important to them. This matching funds initiative is an opportunity to promote and grow philanthropy in our community,” said Mark Samolczyk, president at Stark Community Foundation.

Stark Community Foundation has committed $500,000 toward “give BIG Stark County”, which will officially kick-off November 15, 2012. Any new donation that meets our minimum fund balance will be matched dollar-for-dollar and added to existing or newly created funds in order to help donors double their impact with their charitable giving.

“We are enabling donors in this community to continue to direct their philanthropy, but providing double the impact. Tell us what you are passionate about and we will provide the infrastructure and support,” said Bridgette Neisel, vice president of advancement at Stark Community Foundation.

Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded more than $111 million dollars and holds nearly 550 funds with current assets at more than $179 million.

The Foundation was established to exist in perpetuity for the purpose of providing grant dollars to organizations in order to address local community needs. Grants have been paid regularly since 1965. Grants are awarded from the Foundation’s Community Charitable Fund to areas such as arts, education, environment, health, human services, neighborhoods, and scholarships. Donors also provide grant funding directly to organizations through Donor Advised Funds, Donor Designated Funds, and Field of Interest Funds.

For further details, visit www.starkcf.org or contact Bridgette Neisel, vice president of advancement at 330-454-3426 or bneisel@starkcf.org.
