Carrie L. Bast Named CFO of Stark Community Foundation

Carrie L. Bast has been named vice president and chief financial officer of Stark Community Foundation.

Bast joins the Foundation from Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) where she served as chief operating officer since 2014 and previously as director of budget and business services. During her time at NEOMED, she had direct oversight of the university’s annual operating budget and managed the day-to-day operations of the administration and finance division as well as evaluated and monitored the university’s endowment funds.

Samolczyk, president and CEO of Stark Community Foundation. “Given her background in nonprofits, Carrie knows firsthand the impact an endowment fund can have on strengthening an organization’s financial position. I know she will make an immediate impact on the services we provide to our family of donors.”

As CFO, Bast will be responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of Stark Community Foundation’s growing asset base of nearly $300 million. She will oversee the Foundation’s finance, accounting, investment management, audit and human resources operations.

Prior to joining NEOMED, Bast served as director of finance for Walsh University, cash management and quality control specialist for GE Capital Corporation and auditor for KPMG. A Louisville resident, Bast graduated summa cum laude from Walsh University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting. She also is a Certified Public Accountant.
