Learn about the generous donors who have established charitable funds through Stark Community Foundation.
Thanks to the generosity of many individuals, families and businesses in our community, The Women's Fund of Stark Community Foundation recently awarded nearly $17,000 in grants to Stark County nonprofit organizations to assist underserved women and children of all ages, cultures, ethnicities, races and abilities.
This year’s grant recipients include:
Canton Museum of Art
$5,000 to help support 15 art therapy sessions in collaboration with the YWCA to use art experiences to reconcile emotional conflicts, manage addictions, develop social skills, reduce anxiety and increase self-esteem
Hannah's House
$5,000 to support Your Story Matters, an event to enhance the physical, mental and spiritual needs of vulnerable women in our community
Heartbeats to the City
$4,400 to provide sewing supplies and a sewing instructor to teach young women fashion job and skill training as they participate in hands-on sewing lessons, learn about jobs in fashion design and starting a sewing business and visit Kent State University’s School of Fashion
Project REBUILD
$850 to collaborate with community organizations to provide a 10-week program for young women to learn about nutrition, decision-making, physical activity, goal-setting, substance use, stress and coping, violence and positive thinking
Stark County Hunger Task Force
$1,700 to purchase a crockpot, electric skillet and blender for each family in the Healthy Lifestyles program where they learn skills to prepare healthy dinner recipes
About The Women’s Fund
The Women’s Fund was established in 2006 as a permanent endowment of Stark Community Foundation to benefit future generations; increase vital funding for programs that advance the economic, educational, physical, emotional, social, artistic and personal growth of women; and educate and inspire women to become leaders in philanthropy. The interest area of this fund includes nonprofit agencies and their programs or projects that meet the needs of underserved women and children in Stark County. Since inception, more than $100,000 has been awarded to local nonprofits.
