Massillon Charitable Funds Awards Nearly $25,000 to Area Organizations

Two charitable funds at Stark Community Foundation – Massillon Community Charitable Fund and Arthur P. Underhill and Martha Q. Underhill Charitable Fund – recently awarded nine grants totaling nearly $25,000 to area organizations serving the Massillon community.

This year’s grant recipients include:

The Arc of Ohio – $2,000 to support a four-week summer camp for school-aged children with developmental or intellectual disabilities

Massillon Area Greenways – $1,500 to design and print promotional materials

Massillon Museum – $4,000 to purchase equipment for the museum’s new ceramics studio

Meals on Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties – $3,950 to purchase equipment that will help prepare, store and transport enough food for 1,500 daily meals for nutritionally at-risk clients

Northwest Firefighters Association – $3,165 to purchase a trailer that will also serve as a mobile recruiting billboard for Fire and EMS Exploring, a program designed for youth to learn more about a future career in public safety

Salvation Army of Massillon – $3,000 to purchase a projector for its multi-purpose room used by many in the community

Spring Hill Historic Home – $3,000 to improve the entryway to the property with an expanded parking lot

Stark County Hunger Task Force – $1,850 to purchase a refrigerator and two laptops for pantries in Western Stark County that will give them immediate access to Pantry Trak, an online food pantry management tool

StarkFresh – $2,461 to brand its veggie mobile, a vehicle that transports affordable fresh, nutritious produce and fruits to places where residents with economic and mobility challenges reside

Massillon Community Charitable Fund was created in 1982 when a group of civic leaders in Massillon came together to create a charitable legacy that would strengthen their community for years to come. For more than 35 years, generous individuals, families and businesses have financially supported the fund, collectively making a difference in the Massillon area. To date, the fund has awarded over $200,000 to local organizations. About Arthur P. Underhill and Martha Q. Underhill Charitable Fund
Through their estate, the late Arthur P. and Martha Q. Underhill established a charitable fund at Stark Community Foundation that would benefit Massillon organizations in perpetuity. The Underhills entrusted the Massillon Community Charitable Fund to recommend areas of support from the dollars available from their fund at the Foundation.
