Local organizations finding long-term solutions to hunger can apply for the third round of Future of Food Security funding through Stark Community Foundation. The application deadline is Friday, June 16 at 4:30 p.m.

In order to be considered for funding, grant applicants must be a 501(c)(3) organization in good-standing, a tax-exempt private agency or a government entity located within Stark County or directly benefitting Stark County.

Desired projects will be a collaborative, multi-organization effort that will noticeably improve the landscape of food security in Stark County.

One‐year planning grants are available for a maximum of $15,000 per project, and implementation grants are available over a one‐to‐three year time period with a maximum award of $100,000 per project.

Since 2013, Stark Community Foundation has been leading an effort to fight food insecurity in Stark County. After receiving a high volume of grant requests focused on hunger relief, the Foundation commissioned a study to learn more about the hunger issues facing individuals and families in our community. To maximize our impact, we partnered with The Paul & Carol David Foundation and Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton to invest nearly $500,000 to date in local organizations that are finding long-term solutions to hunger. Some of the organizations that have benefited from Future of Food Security funding include Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, Alliance Community Pantry, Minerva United Methodist Church, Pegasus Farm, Stark County Hunger Task Force and Walsh University.
