The Women's Fund Awards More Than $12,000 to Local Nonprofits

In celebration of its 10-year anniversary, The Women’s Fund, a permanent endowment fund of Stark Community Foundation, recently awarded more than $12,000 to Stark County nonprofit organizations that foster opportunities for women and children of all ages, cultures, ethnicity, races and abilities.

This year’s grant recipients include:

Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health
$1,871 to support its Wholehearted Movement Program, which focuses on helping adolescents who suffer from mental illness with discovering the mind-body connective nature of modern dance

Early Childhood Resource Center
$1,370 to support The Parent Cafe Project, a series of structured small group conversations that bring parents, caregivers, guardians and family members together to discuss issues that are important to strengthening families

Massillon Museum
$3,000 to help defray the cost of bringing Julia Alvarez, author of In the Time of the Butterflies, to Stark County to speak at its annual The Big Read

Mercy Medical Center
$2,640 to continue and enhance WELL WOMEN 2016, an exercise and nutrition program that’s done in collaboration with Canton City School District

PAL Mission
$579 to purchase supplies for Girl Code, a month long life-skills series that addresses the skills that teenage girls need daily

Pathway Caring for Children
$3,000 to support its Family Empowerment Program, which serves about 50 families who are facing challenges with family relationships, discipline and communication
