The Canton Regional Chapter of SCORE has been named district chapter of the year for 2014.
(SCORE operates on a fiscal year that begins on October 1 and ends on September 30.)
The chapter set new highs for in-person counseling sessions (585), workshops (27), workshop attendees (531) and total client services (1,249). The year marked the chapter's third straight of establishing new highs.
In addition to in-person counseling, the chapter's 35 volunteers also provide counsel by phone and via email. They serve clients in Stark, Tuscarawas, Holmes, Carroll and Harrison counties.
Canton Regional is one of 11 chapters - five in northern Ohio and six in western Pennsylvania - that comprise the district.
Canton Regional Chapter officers are Chair Dick Evans, Vice Chair Ed Messerly, Secretary Vera Burton and Treasurer Wes Albaugh.
