House Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI-4) and Ways and Means Committee Member Tom Reed (R-NY-23) met with the Council’s Public Policy team on Capitol Hill this morning to discuss an important piece of legislation to protect charitable giving and support American philanthropy.
These House leaders are enthusiastic that H.R. 4719—a package of charitable tax provisions— will be going to the House floor for a vote on Thursday. This single bill includes all of the charitable bills that were marked up by the House Ways and Means Committee on May 29:
Making the IRA charitable rollover, the expanded food bank contribution, and the conservation easement donation provisions permanent;
Simplifying the private foundation excise tax to a single flat rate of one percent; and
Extending the deadline for charitable contributions to April 15of the calendar year.
