SCF Partners with Prescription Assistance Network and the Honoring of Nancy H. McPeek

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CANTON, Ohio (March 17, 2014) – Stark Community Foundation announced today that the Prescription Assistance Network of Stark County, Inc. (PAN) has established a fund in their name and that of Nancy H. McPeek, a dedicated Board Member, Board President, volunteer and supporter of the Organization. The Prescription Assistance Network/In Honor of Nancy H. McPeek Endowment Fund will help perpetuate the agency’s continuing work to provide access to prescription medications and education to the most vulnerable in our community.

“PAN is pleased to honor Nancy McPeek and recognize her strategic guidance of the agency and her compassion for community members in need,” said Carol Risaliti, executive director of Prescription Assistance Network.

Prescription Assistance Network was established in 2002 through initiative grants from the Austin Bailey Health and Wellness Foundation, the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton and the Health Foundation of Greater Massillon. PAN is one of only three charitable pharmacies in Ohio. Since opening, the PAN Charitable Pharmacy has filled more than 85,000 prescriptions that have a value of more than $7 million.

“PAN provides an invaluable service to our community. Unfortunately, many Stark County residents have to choose between filling their prescription and buying groceries. This fund is a wonderful tribute to Nancy’s leadership and tireless efforts in assisting those in need,” said Mark Samolczyk, president of Stark Community Foundation.

PAN’s statistics offer a sobering look at the prescription medication situation that has plagued our community. Over the past ten years, they received over $14 million dollars in medication donations, have collaborated to purchase more than $450,000 in medications, and have assisted over 8,000 individuals receive medication.

“The fact that we continue to partner with nonprofit organizations who are seeking professional guidance in the investment of their funds is a testament of their trust and confidence in the work we do,” said Bridgette Neisel, vice president of advancement. “This partnership allows Stark Community Foundation to assist PAN in managing and growing their fund, while honoring Nancy’s legacy of addressing one of the major issues facing our community.”

A fundraising dinner to honor Nancy is scheduled for Thursday, April 24th at Walsh University, Barrette Center at 5:30. Proceeds will benefit The Prescription Assistance Network/In Honor of Nancy H. McPeek Endowment Fund. For more information, contact PAN at 330-445-1087.
