Stark Community Foundation Announces Perry to Board of Directors

CANTON, Ohio (February 20, 2014) – Stark Community Foundation announced the appointment of Stephen A. Perry to its Board of Directors and Distribution Committee for a five-year term. Perry, who recently retired after serving eight years as Executive Director of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, was a public appointment by the Foundation’s Trustee Banks Committee. He replaces Robert J. DeHoff who completed two five-year terms.

Steve holds a bachelor degree in accounting from the University of Akron, and a master’s degree in management from Stanford University. He also attended the University of Michigan Executive Development program. He served as senior vice-president of the Timken Company, and led the General Services Agency in the George W. Bush administration prior to his leadership role at the Hall of Fame.

Perry has served on numerous boards, and currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Mercy Medical Center and the United Way of Greater Stark County Board of Directors, and is an Honorary Board Member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Perry received the Award of Merit from the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, Distinguished Alumni and President’s Social Responsibility Awards from Kent State University, the Canton Jaycees Distinguished Service Award, Timken High School Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Award, the University of Akron Dr. Frank Simonetti Distinguished Business Alumnus Award, Distinguished American Award, Northeastern Ohio Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame and was named ABOUT Magazine Person of the Year.

Thomas W. Schervish, Sr., CEO of Stark Management Services, is serving as chairman of the Board of Directors. E. Lang D’Atri, of Layman, D’Atri and Associates, has been elected as vice chairman.

Additional Board members include William R. Cook, G. Charles Dix II, Thomas V. Ferrero, Nancy S. Gessner, Gregory W. Luntz, and Nancy A. Varian.
