Foundations Join Forces to Offer Low-Interest Loans For Graduate Students

CANTON, Ohio (October 3, 2013) – Stark Community Foundation (SCF) today announced that they have partnered with the Canton Student Loan Foundation (CSLF) to offer low-interest college loans to Stark County graduates pursuing graduate-level studies beginning with the 2014-2015 academic year.

Funds will be distributed from the George H. and Anna Casper Scholarship Trust, the first education fund established at SCF in 1972. Since its inception, the Casper Loan program has assisted hundreds of students in their pursuit of an undergraduate degree.

“Scholarship and loan opportunities are more readily available for undergraduate students, while resources for graduate school students are low in comparison, said Mark Samolczyk, president of Stark Community Foundation. “We are very pleased to begin this partnership with CSLF as they have been successfully assistingStarkCounty students for more than ninety years,” added Samolczyk.

SCF will continue to manage and invest the funds while CSLF will handle the administrative portion of the loan process. At this time, assistance is available only to current CSLF borrowers.

“The Canton Student Loan Foundation’s long standing history has been with undergraduate assistance,” stated Kimberly Leggett, CSLF executive director, “so we are excited and grateful to have this opportunity to assist Stark County students with graduate school expenses.”
