Stark Community Foundation Establishes Fund with Major Investment from North Canton Medical Foundation
CANTON, Ohio (September 12, 2013) – Stark Community Foundation (SCF) today announced that the North Canton Medical Foundation (NCMF) has established a fund that will enable NCMF to financially support local health and wellness programs for generations to come. The investment is the second largest in Stark Community Foundation’s 50-year history, bringing SCF’s total assets to more than $193 million.
North Canton Medical Foundation and Aultman Health Foundation recently finalized an agreement to unite NCMF’s Clinical Operations with Aultman’s existing medical operations. NCMF is now in a position where it can better provide charitable support for health programs that serve our community into the future. With the ability and expertise to tailor charitable investing for donors and ensure a permanent legacy of giving, SCF was a natural choice for NCMF to invest its funds.
“We were looking for a place to invest that would enable us to establish a fund that will last in perpetuity,” Dr. John Humphrey, executive director at NCMF said of the decision. “Stark Community Foundation was an obvious choice for us, as they’re a trusted leader in the investment and administration of charitable funds. Their resources, sophistication in community giving and long history of serving both donors and the community give us confidence that our investment will benefit our community.”
“For 50 years donors have looked to Stark Community Foundation to invest gifts both large and small. We take great pride that North Canton Medical Foundation has entrusted us with these charitable dollars,” added Mark Samolczyk, president of SCF.
Since 1963, SCF has connected people with charitable causes that are important to them, partnering with them to put their money where their hearts are – whether it’s establishing a new fund or contributing to a cause that is dear to them.
“We’re looking forward to working with North Canton Medical Foundation to help them make a lasting and meaningful impact on the health of the people in Stark County,” said Bridgette Neisel, Stark Community Foundation vice president of advancement.
Nearly 150 organization endowment funds have been started at SCF by nonprofits seeking a predicable source of income for their organization while preserving assets for the nonprofit’s long-term mission.
Stark Community Foundation is the community’s trusted partner in giving to nearly 600 individuals, families, businesses, and communities that have created funds to impact the lives of others through the most effective philanthropy possible. Since 1963, the Foundation has granted more than $111 million to nonprofit organizations. Stark Community Foundation ranks in the top ten percent of community foundations in the United States today.
