In celebration of Stark Community Foundation's 60th anniversary in 2023, we partnered with ArtsinStark, local artist Lizzi Aronhalt and community members to create a vibrant, engaging mural in downtown Canton.
Created by the hands and hearts of our community, the 1,428-square-foot mural captures Stark County's welcoming and collaborative spirit, sparking a sense of community pride in its viewers. With layers of meaning, the mural features honeybees and honeycombs to symbolize collaboration and the sweet results of working together, historic buildings to honor our county's rich history, wildflowers to represent the natural beauty of our region and other symbols that offer a subtle nod to Stark County. More than 100 residents joined us for our Community Mural Paint Day, unleashing their artistic talent and leaving their indelible mark on the local masterpiece.
The mural is located on ArtsinStark's campus on the west side wall of the former Ziegler Tire building at 901 Market Avenue North, the future home of Bluecoats affiliate EN-RICH-MENT.

Northeast Ohio artist Lizzi Aronhalt is here for the buildings! Her architecturally focused work engages themes such as memory, place and the passing of time. She spent time in Southwest Ohio at Miami University where she obtained a B.S. in Art Education and a minor in 2-D media studies. She then lived for two years in Eastern Europe before returning home to Akron, where she currently resides and creates. Her mural work can be found throughout the region in private, corporate and nonprofit settings.
