The Canton Museum of Art has launched a new digital guide in partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies, giving visitors a more immersive and accessible way to experience art.

Available online or through the Bloomberg Connects mobile app, the free guide offers users with in-depth insights into the museum’s collection and exhibitions, including behind-the-scenes features like artist stories, photo galleries, interactive maps and videos that bring exhibits to life.

The guide creates a more intimate connection with the artwork and offers a fresh approach to bringing the museum closer to the community it serves.

Whether someone is a first-time visitor or a returning art lover, the guide offers a personalized way to explore the museum.

“We believe that technology provides greater access to share our exhibitions and collections, with audiences here and across the world,” Canton Museum of Art Director and CEO Max Barton said. “It will help people plan their visit and enhance their experience while they’re here.”

Since its launch, the guide has already engaged thousands of users locally and around the country.

The Canton Museum of Art joins more than 900 cultural institutions featured on the Bloomberg Connects app, which has reached more than 5.1 million users in 37 countries.

Curated by the museum’s staff, the guide is updated regularly to reflect current pieces and highlights work from the museum’s acclaimed watercolor collection, ceramics works and a special curated kids’ section.

“The content is dynamic, so it will change often as our team adds new exhibits, new pieces from the collection and educational activities,” he said. “The possibilities are limitless.”

The guide encourages visitors to return and discover something new each time.

One unique highlight of the guide is a date-night scavenger hunt that allows couples to explore the museum together, learning about each other and the artwork lining the walls.

The app’s elements aim to make the museum’s stories feel more inviting, even for those who might not consider themselves regular museumgoers.

With accessibility features such as magnification, screen reader compatibility and audio and captions in over 50 languages, the user-friendly guide ensures more people in the community can engage with the museum, without barriers.

“Canton Museum of Art’s Bloomberg Guide is connecting our museum and our community with audiences like never before,” said Barton. “It’s a fantastic use of technology to connect art to life — which is exactly what our mission is all about.”

The digital guide can be accessed by downloading the Bloomberg Connects app to your phone, or accessing the guide online at: guides.bloombergconnects.org/en-US/guide/CantonMuseumOfArt
