What is a community foundation?
A Community Foundation is a tax-exempt public charity created by and for the people of a particular geographical region to improve the quality of life of its residents through lasting charitable giving.
Stark Community Foundation is politically independent and nonsectarian. We serve the entire community by raising, managing and distributing funds for many different charitable purposes.
We are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Our daily operations are carried out by a professional staff of 10 employees.
Stark Community Foundation was established in 1963 as a multiple trusteeship community foundation by the five Stark County banks then operating trust departments. Grants have been paid regularly since 1965 and, to date, total over $100 million.
