Funds that accomplish Donor Goals

Stark Community Foundation offers a variety of funds designed to achieve individual donor goals.

What is a fund?
A component fund is a discrete account of contributions, earnings, and disbursements for an individual donor, organization donor, or charitable trust.  The fun relationship between the donor and the Foundation is goverened by a fund agreement, trust, or will.

What do all funds have in common?
Donors create funds through tax-deductible contributions to Stark Community Foundation.  The Foundation stewards fund endowments for appreciation and income.  The Board of Directors is responsible for all funds and grants awarded by the Foundation.

Funds established after December 18, 2003, require a minimum endowment base of $25,000. (*Please see Future Funds if you would prefer to begin with less than $25,000)

Fund Types

General Purpose Fund

The General Purpose Fund accepts gifts from donors who want the Board of Directors to use their discretion to make charitable grants to nonprofits that meet the changing needs of our community.

Field of Interest Funds

Field of Interest Funds require the Board of Directors to make charitable grants to nonprofit agencies within a broad area defined by the donor.  Examples of broad grantmaking areas include: youth, medical needs, and the environment.

Donor Advised Funds

Donor Advised Funds give donors the privilege of recommending grants to the Board for organizations and causes that they wish to support with their philanthropy.

Designated Funds

Designated Funds use income to support one or more specific organizations which the donor has named in a fund agreement, trust, or will.

Scholarship Funds

Scholarship Funds establish a selection committee to review applications and recommend awards to help with college or continuing education.

Agency Endowments

Agency Endowments income is disbursed to the establishing nonprofit agency.

Future Funds

Future Funds offer donors who would like to have a fund at the Foundation, but prefer to begin with less than $25,000, the option to establish an account which will grow to a permanent fund over a period of time.

Supporting Organizations

Supporting Organizations offer donors many advantages of a private foundation with favorable tax treatment and with less administrative cost.
