STARK COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

Board of Directors approve $589,555

to organizations serving Stark County
 

The following are discretionary and capital campaign grants that were approved by the Stark Community Foundation Board of Directors during the Third Quarter of 2011.
 

Alliance Community Pantry: $3,500 for a refrigeration unit.

Alliance Neighborhood Center: $20,000 for the New Beginnings program.

The Ananda Center: $10,000 for program support.

Buckeye Career Center Foundation: $7,000 for the Buckeye Focus and scholarships.     

Canton Regional SCORE-Chapter 580: $10,000 to expand awareness of services.

Canton Symphony Orchestra: $100,000 for the capital campaign.

Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health: $33,750 for the Advance Practice Nurse Externship.

Early Childhood Resource Center: $25,000 for the Inspiration Station.

The Foundation Center
: $1,000 for the Strong Nonprofits - Thriving Communities program.

MAPS Air Museum
: $15,000 for field trips for Stark County high school history classes.

Navarre-Bethlehem Township Historical Society
: $3,805 for the Renovation of Mathew Historical Museum.

New Philadelphia City Schools Quaker Foundation
: $3,000 for student scholarships.

YMCA of Alliance
: $100,000 for the YMCA - Alliance capital campaign.

YMCA of Central Stark County
: $7,500 for the Strong Kids Campaign for Canton, Camp Tippecanoe, Meyers Lake, Minerva and Alliance.

YMCA of Central Stark County
: $200,000 for the YMCA - Canton capital campaign.

YMCA of Western Stark County
: $50,000 for the Towpath Trail capital campaign.

Grants have been paid regularly since 1965.  Grants are awarded from the Foundation's Community Charitable Fund to areas such as neighborhoods, afterschool child care, education, basic needs, economic development and capital campaigns.  Donors also provide grant funding directly to organizations through donor advised funds, donor designated funds, and field of interest funds.

The next deadline for applying for a discretionary grant is January 3, 2012.
